All You Can Eat Steamboat & Grill @ Hao Wang Xiang 好旺香

Wednesday, 4 February 2015
Steamboat! The practice of cooking raw food in a pot of boiling soup and the cooked food is eaten with different sauces. This one of a kind communal dining indirectly promotes fellowship among diners as it usually take a long time where diners can interact and socialise while sharing food in a joyous atmosphere. Well I just had a very enjoyable steamboat and grill experience with a bunch of friends last night!

Look at those treasures waving at you.

Haowangxiang, located in the center of Batu Pahat town.

Still a little early.

Discussing over the kind of broth they want.  Tomyam? Bak Kut Teh?

A bed of seafood.

So many choices of sauce to satisfy your penchant for spice.

Marinated lamb, pork chop,  chicken breast strips, liver, bacon, chicken wings..... And the list goes on.

Frozen goodness.

Lucky I'm not a vegan.

Stranger in frame.

They have ice cream tubs and pops too!

Seafood.

Table setting.

Let's get started!

OMG look at that crayfish!

Hungry wolves.

Gan found himself a new talent. Frying chicken.

Gan and his golden chicken wings.

You can't miss it.

Us and our flashy smiles. Not to forget our happy tummies.

Facepalm.

It was a happy get together with the bunch, and I realized that we only have less than two years left together. (sobs)
I sincerely hope that our friendship lasts a lifetime.

Coffee In Loft 閣樓咖啡

Monday, 2 February 2015

Throwback to two weeks ago, when Wen, Gan and I went on a cafe hopping adventure by bus. It was an impromptu afternoon coffee as we initially wanted to just grab a bowl of wantan noodles nearby, but the sudden kick for caffeine evoked us to settle down for coffee.

Dinner @ Chingooya; Supper @ Riverbank Cafe

Tuesday, 21 October 2014
Had Korean food at Chingooya Korean Restaurant, Batu Pahat two nights ago. It was supposed to be my belated birthday celebration as suggested by Beng, but I did not want to be the awkward limelight of the night, especially not already 4 days passed my birthday. So we went out for a casual dinner instead, with Joanne as well.

The last time I had Korean food in BP was already 2 years ago.

Menu

It was ramen, mushrooms, chicken, Korean ricecakes, and vegetables on the hot pan; grilled mackerel on the right, and  small portions of side dishes.

I always have a penchant for spicy food, therefore kimchi, gochujang, and whatever korean hot sauce do not bother me. I even asked the waiter for extra hot sauce! The grilled mackerel and side dishes was worth a 4 star rating, but the hot pan was not to my liking, the main reason was because of the overrated price for ramen. Omg one small piece of ramen, exactly the size of a typical instant noodle costs RM 6. Ouch.

Hi !

Dinner is always incomplete without desserts. Heh! So to the Riverbank Cafe we went.

I like the calm, relaxing atmosphere. There was even a notice at the entrance that read " Make no noise. Enjoy."

DIY Playground - Batu Pahat

Monday, 22 September 2014

An old, quiet Chinese settlement located at the corner of  Batu Pahat town and away from the hubbub is becoming a big attraction, thanks to its  “DIY Playground”.

It is a self built theme park by local residents, using recycled materials, waste materials and discarded wood. I am amazed by the creativity of the people who worked hard on the playground.  Seesaws, slides, spinner, pirate ship, flying fox, treadmill, tree house and a giant wheel are available here at the playground. The park even has a stage for local residents to organize events.

The local residents building a slide.

Mate and I trying out their new slide. WHEEE.

Watch how we slide down.

Playing flying fox!

To slide down the wooden, we must rest our buttocks on the half split containers.

The tiny self-built theme park at Jalan Syed Abdullah is definitely worth a visit as the DIY playground is like no other.
